Day One
Make your way to Hull for this evening's sailing.
Day Two
Today is spent largely at sea. In addition to the usual wide selection of on-board diversions and entertainments, specialist lecturers will be aboard to describe the events that took place in the various places that Ocean Countess will visit on this special cruise. By evening, she will have tied up in the pretty port of Honfleur, at the mouth of the River Seine.
Day Three
Honfleur's harbour and quayside are yours to explore today, though many will want to join our shore excursion to the famous Normandy beaches. Visit the fascinating museum at Arromanches to find out more about the events of June 6th 1944 - forever remembered as D-Day - and see the historic Pegasus Bridge, the first part of France to be liberated by the Allies.
Day Four
Today Ocean Countess calls into Guernsey's delightful St Peter Port. From here you'll be able to explore the sights of this beautiful Channel Island countryside - don't miss 800-year-old Castle Cornet, which guards the entrance to the harbour, or the tax-free shopping - and visit the excellent German Occupation Museum, which chronicles the island's wartime occupation.
Day Five
The French port of Dunkirk, scene of the great rescue of the retreating Allied Expeditionary Force by the "little ships" in May and June 1940, welcomes us today. Join us on an optional shore excursion to discover more about the site of what Churchill called a "miracle of deliverance".
Day Six
Our final port of call is the Dutch capital Amsterdam, a wonderful city of canals, flower markets and world-renowned museums. The city was occupied during World War Two, and is perhaps best known as the home of Anne Frank. Join our shore excursion to Arnhem, the Rhine-side town forever associated with 1944's Operation Market Garden and the defence of the "bridge too far", where you'll be able to visit the Arnhem Airborne Museum and Cemetery.
Day Seven
Ocean Countess returns to Hull at the end of a truly fascinating cruise.
