Resort Information
You will be staying in two delightful resorts during your holiday.
Cannes
Cannes is very inch the resort city, its world famous promenade, La Croisette, lined on one side by grand palais-hotels, and on the other by private beaches. Above the ancient harbour from which the city grew, the charming Old Town of Le Suquet surveys a beautiful scene of blue waters dotted with pleasure craft.
Diano Marina
From its golden sands to its historic old town, the colourful town of Diano Marina is a classic beach resort. Olive and citrus groves, palm trees and a profusion of exotic flowers attest to the resort's favourable micro-climate, which makes it perfect for relaxed holidays.
Itinerary
Day One
Fly to Nice, meet your Tour Manager at the airport and transfer along the Cote d'Azur to Cannes.
Day Two
Rest and relax, or join our optional excursion to the St Tropez peninsula. Stroll through Port Grimaud, the famous 'floating' resort village, with its plush waterside houses and apartments, network of canals and yacht-filled harbour. Our next stop, San Tropez, is now one of the world's most glamorous resorts. Wander along the harbour, relax in a pavement cafe or explore the tree-lined streets and shaded squares behind the port's promenade.
Day Three
Today's included full-day excursion takes you into the Esterel hills, the Riviera's fragrant hinterland of hilltop villages and medieval towns, to picturesque Grasse, renowned as the 'perfume capital of the world'. Walk the jumbled streets of its old town, and visit the famed perfume factories.
Moving on, we'll take a short, scenic drive to the spectacular Gorges du Loup, a 12-kilometre 'grand canyon' complete with plunging waterfall, and on to the fortified village of St Paul de Vence. Visit the renowned Fondation Maeght museum of modern art (payable locally), or stroll the streets of this perfectly preserved medieval village.
Day Four
Today you bid "au revoir" to the Cote d'Azur, heading to Italy and Diano Marina. On the way we'll call in Nice - unashamed 'capital' of the French Riviera - and the tiny Principality of Monaco.
In Nice, the famous Promenade des Anglais, with its grand Belle Epoque hotels, stretches for five kilometres round the curve of the Baie des Anges, while in Monaco - with its Casino and the Palais Princier, there is an air of wealth and grandeur matched by few places.
Day Five
On today's optional excursion you'll head inland, into a mountainous region of olive and citrus groves, shady forests and tiny hamlets. See Islabona, a fortified village of ancient churches and cobbled squares, and Dolceacqua, a bustling market town surrounded by vineyards.
Sample the local vintage and a variety of regional foods at a 'tasting' before returning to the coast and the grand resort of San Remo, with its elegant casino and striking, onion-domed Russian Orthodox church. Stroll the old town, La Pigna, and harbour-front, before returning to 'Diano' at the end of the day.
Day Six
Our final optional excursion takes you to the pine-clad shoreline of the Riviera di Levante. Here elegant Santa Margherita Ligure overlooks a stunning bay at the eastern end of the Portofino headland. Explore, then perhaps take a boat trip to discover its ultra-chic neighbour Portofino, which despite the glitz remains one of the Mediterranean's most idyllic settings.
Day Seven
Journey back along the coast to Nice airport to check in for your flight home.
