A blaze of colonial colour
Every year, the millions of trees that shade the northeast corner of the USA signal the arrival of Fall with an explosion of red, purple and gold. As we journey from Manhattan Island to wooded Vermont and on to Boston, you'll witness their splendour, framed against the still-blue skies.

Fly to New York and transfer by coach to your overnight hotel in New Jersey.
Come with us to downtown Manhattan. Explore on your own, or join our tour of the "city that never sleeps". Marvel at the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, bustling Times Square and the green acres of Central Park. Walk down Wall Street, and look across the water to the Statue of Liberty.
This afternoon, we make our way north into Vermont for a two-night stay.
Spend day amid the stunning colours of the New England scenery as you soak up the beauty of this region of rolling, forested hills and quaint towns and villages, including exquisite Woodstock, with its air of refinement and gentility.
Yet more breathtaking sights as you journey into the beautiful Berkshire Hills (or simply 'the Berkshires'), calling at historic Williamstown, the impressive Yankee Candle Factory and taking the Native American Mohawk Trail, as well as the celebrated "turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston". You'll stay on the outskirts of New England's principal city for the next three nights.
Journey to one of America's most elegant, welcoming cities. Upon arrival, there's an opportunity to explore Boston's famous 'Freedom Trail' past the gold-domed State House and the Old North Church. Wander colourful Quincy Market and the Harborside parks and gardens.
On today's optional excursion we'll head to Plymouth, where the Pilgrim Fathers landed in America. After a stop en route in Hyannis, on Cape Cod, to see the JFK Memorial, you'll be able to stroll Plymouth's historic streets, and explore the fascinating Plimoth Plantation, where staff in period costume re-enact events and life from a day in 1627.
Visit 'billionaires' playground' and home of the America's Cup, Newport, Rhode Island. Here, in America's smallest state, elegant sophistication is everywhere. Drive past the former summer homes of the likes of the Astors and Vanderbilts, and stop for lunch on one of the city's quaint wharves or cobblestone streets, before you journey back to New York and head to the airport to board your overnight flight home.
Arrive back home, after an overnight flight.
British Citizens travelling to the USA now have to register online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure. We will send you the details you will need to complete your online registration, along with your tickets, about two weeks prior to travel. A charge of $14 per person applies to this process.
The itinerary shown is for our 2011 tour. Our 2010 departures follow a slightly different itinerary and routin, which we can supply on request.
Smoking is not permitted on any coach forming part of your holiday; regular stops will be made though for your comfort en route. The majority of hotels in North America are non-smoking throughout including in all bedrooms. In general smoking outside is acceptable, but do look out for signs prohibiting this close to public entrances or bus stops.
Gratuities are a way of life in North America, and it is generally accepted that they form part of a person's earnings. Customary gratuity to a coach driver or tour manager is about $3 per person per day; in a taxi or a restaurant leave 12-15 per cent of the bill and, in the bar, leave a dollar or so per drink.
