Itinerary
Day One
Check into your hotel in time for dinner and an evening talk by Alastair Lack, Blue Badge guide for Oxford, on the history of the university.
Day Two
Today you'll enjoy a guided walking tour of the world renowned Bodleian Library. Soak up the atmosphere of this historic place, then take a tour of the Sheldonian Theatre, constructed between 1664 and 1668 using a design by Sir Christopher Wren. After time for lunch (not included), you'll take a walking tour of the university's other buildings and learn about college life and its customs.
Later, a very special evening awaits you at St Cross College. After a guided tour of the College you'll enjoy dinner and wine in the college hall.
Day Three
Today we visit Broughton Castle, private home of Lord and Lady Saye and Sele. Built in three phases (around 1300, around 1400 and around 1550) the castle is one of the most beautiful examples of a moated manor in England, and is a frequent choice for the filming of historic dramas - parts of 'The Madness of King George' and 'Shakespeare in Love' were both filmed there. In the afternoon you'll return to your hotel to check out and begin you journey home.
