Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Edinburgh and transfer to your hotel (approximately three hours). After check-in, the rest of the afternoon is free for you to explore the secluded glens and riverside walks of the surroundings before dinner at the hotel.

Day Two

Today we follow the breathtaking run from the Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness, as featured by Michael Palin in his series 'Great Railway Journeys of World', through the breathtaking scenery used in the filming of the BBC TV series 'Hamish Macbeth'.

Day Three

Our second excursion is a nostalgic trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway. The nine-and-a-half-mile journey through unspoilt Highland scenery ends in Aviemore, where you're free to explore. You may also like to join our optional excursion on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, the UK's longest funicular, which is renowned for its magnificent views.

Day Four

Our final trip takes us 42 miles along the dramatic West Highland Line to Mallaig, overlooking the Isle of Skye. We'll cross the spectacular 21-arch Glenfinnan viaduct and rumble past the white sands of Morar. Once in Mallaig you can walk the hills, explore the Heritage Centre or visit the kipper smokery.

Day Five

Transfer back to Edinburgh for your return flight home. Depending on your departure time, there may be time to explore this beautiful city before you head to the airport.
