Itinerary
Day One
Fly to Edinburgh where you'll be met by our Tour Manager, and journey to Glasgow. Explore the terraced squares and crescents, fantastic shops and excellent art galleries and museums of this fascinating city before we continue to our hotel where dinner will be served.
Day Two
After a leisurely morning we'll return to Edinburgh. After our short city tour, on which you'll see Jenners - the oldest department store in the world - the Castle, St Giles Cathedral, the Princes Street Gardens, the Sir Walter Scott monument and the Royal Mile, you'll be free to explore, and perhaps visit Holyroodhouse (entry fee payable locally).
In the early evening we'll head to the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle for the Military Tattoo - the highlight of our visit - for a fantastic evening of music and colour, pomp and pageantry. At the end of the evening the coach will return you to the hotel.
Day Three
This morning we head to the Trossachs, an outstandingly beautiful and history-steeped area of mountains, lochs, rivers and woods. We'll stop in Luss, where you can stretch your legs by the "bonnie banks" of Loch Lomond. From here we'll head, through pretty Crianlarich and past the spectacular Falls of Dochar, to Callander - known to millions as the 'Tannochbrae' of the TV series 'Dr Finlay's Casebook' - and to Aberfoyle.
Day Four
Today we'll visit the remarkable Falkirk Wheel. Should you decide to ride the wheel you'll board one of the special boats, sail into the bottom caisson of the Wheel and ascend gracefully to join the Union Canal above. You'll then pass under the historic Antonine Wall before returning to the Wheel for an effortless descent.
After time to explore the visitor centre, we'll continue to Edinburgh where there may be time to shop and sightsee, before heading to the airport for your flight home.
