Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Atlanta, to board the coach for the transfer to your overnight hotel in Montgomery, Alabama's State capital.

Day Two

Sit back as you journey south towards the Gulf of Mexico, then along the coast and into Louisiana, arriving this afternoon in the great city of New Orleans for a two-night stay. This evening, enjoy our Dinner Jazz Cruise on board a 'steamboat' - a great way to begin your visit.

Day Three

This morning's optional guided city tour introduces the 'Big Easy'. Don't miss the time-warped, iron-balconied buildings of the French Quarter, centred on Jackson Square. This afternoon, join our optional Manchac Swampland excursion for a glimpse of the city's surrounding country, and a glimpse of Creole life.

In the evening, head back to the 'Quarter', and immerse yourself in the incomparable atmosphere of the place which gave the world jazz music a century ago, and where the legacy of Louis Armstrong and 'King' Oliver lives on in innumerable bars, clubs and even street corners.

Day Four

Today you'll head through the Mississippi Delta of the fabled bluesmen to Tupelo, where you might wish to visit the tiny house that was Elvis's birthplace, and later to the star's beloved hometown - the bustling cotton capital of Memphis. Soak up the atmosphere of this musically blessed city as we offer you the chance to dine on famous Beale Street. Enjoy typical Southern cuisine with an included three - course dinner, followed by live entertainment.

Day Five

Don't miss today's optional full day Memphis Sounds excursion, which will include a visit to legendary Sun Studio, the recording birthplace of legends such as Elvis Presley and BB King, and - most unforgettable of all - the most famous southern 'mansion' of all 'Graceland'.

Day Six

Leaving Memphis today you'll head to Nashville for a two-night stay in the undisputed world capital of Country Music.

Day Seven

We have two optional excursions to excite you today. The first introduces you to the Country Music Hall of Fame and the legendary Studio B, the starting point for more popular hits than any other recording studio in the USA. On the second you'll have a chance to round off your stay with shopping country-style at the Opry Mills retail mall.

In the evening, catch some 'guitar-pickin". As the song says, you've "thirteen hundred and fifty-two" from which to choose.

Day Eight

Head back to Atlanta for your flight home. En route, you'll stop in Chattanooga (of "Choo-Choo" fame) - as picturesque a southern town as any you'll find anywhere.

Day Nine

Arrive back home, after an overnight flight.

Further Information

The American arrivals process

British Citizens travelling to the USA now have to register online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure. We will send you the details you will need to complete your online registration, along with your tickets, about two weeks prior to travel.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted on any coach forming part of your holiday; regular stops will be made though for your comfort en route. The majority of hotels in North America are non-smoking throughout including in all bedrooms. In general smoking outside is acceptable, but do look out for signs prohibiting this close to public entrances or bus stops.

Tipping

Gratuities are a way of life in North America, and it is generally accepted that they form part of a person's earnings. Customary gratuity to a coach driver or tour manager is about $3 per person per day; in a taxi or a restaurant leave 12-15 per cent of the bill and, in the bar, leave a dollar or so per drink.
